Weekly Game Prototypes

13 weeks, 13 game prototypes

Solo projectMade in Unity with C#2016

Welcome to my weekly prototype project. Each week, based on a given theme, I started by asking what kind of experience I wanted to deliver to players — and what mechanic and art direction would create it.

Then: sketches, prototyping, playtesting, yelling, and iterating. Glad I survived and made 13 games I genuinely like. It's exhilarating to build a game every week :)

Sink or Swim — rotate the water to keep the cat and fish safe
Week 01 · Sink or Swim

Cat & Fish

Rotate the water to save the cat and the fish — keep each of them in its own safe zone.

Spin Cycle featured on the Apple App Store

After story: playtesters loved it, so I kept going — it became a worldwide Apple-featured mobile game, Spin Cycle. All the best things start with a prototype.

Week 02 · Robin Hood

Robin Hood

A game about doing two things at once: control Robin Hood as he runs from the pursuing Sheriff, while solving color puzzles to earn special powers.

Week 03 · Sickness

Sickness

Solving a barely-visible maze built from near-identical colors — a deliberate compromise between hard-but-comfortable and easy-to-see-but-glaring.

Week 04 · Party Game

SpaceOrder

A multiplayer game about keeping all players in the correct order. A cooperation game heavy on verbal communication — and, of course, tons of chaos and fun.

Week 05 · Trying

Disfiguration

Explore the environment to discover the outline of a hidden shape. Once you know the boundaries, you have to find the one disfigured part.

Week 06 · Repeating Pattern

Pattern

A "toy" rather than a game — play the keyboard to generate unique, hypnotic patterns of color and shape.

Week 07 · Gong

Gong

A game about following the rules — but being brave enough to break them can take you further, and give you an abnormal life.

Path — one-touch ball control prototype
Week 08 · One Touch Control

Path

Control the size of a moving ball: keep it on the white to speed up, and avoid the colored walls that slow you down.

Week 09 · 10s

DUEL

An honor duel between two players. Agree on a countdown, then try to shoot first once it ends — fire too early and you're dishonorable, and you lose.

Rainbow — single-button color matching prototype
Week 10 · Rainbow

Rainbow

Using a single button, change the sequence of colors to match the raindrops falling toward you. Precise control only — no mistakes allowed.

Week 11 · Fan Game

PUSH

Push your opponent off the stage through clever movement and positioning. Each player constantly rotates; every quadrant pushes with a different strength — the darker the tone, the stronger the shove.

Week 12 · American Game

Tax Season

An abstract take on my experience filing taxes in the US: match subtly different tones to the correct boxes while trying to eat junk food and entertain yourself.

Week 13 · Simulacrum

In Another World

In another world, the rules of life are different — traditionally dangerous things are harmless now, and harmless things can suddenly kill you.

Thank you

13 weeks. 13 games. One very tired, very happy designer.
